PayPerPost backlash

PayPerPost yesterday announced that they were requiring a interim post between every sponsored post a blogger made.  The main issue with this was that PayPerPost, which this blog does belong to, thought they could enforce a rule that applied to other companies.  However, their “posties” went through a giant backlash.  Ted Murphy, the founder of PayPerPost and a founder of Mind Comet as well was on the forums to make sure users voices were heard.

This seems a very unorthodox idea, however, after much dicussion it was decided that PayPerPost will give bloggers suggestions on how to make their blogs appeal more to advertisers.  While this has calmed the crowds, it does seem that PayPerPost is trying to weed out the spam bloggers, which by estimates could range from 500-5,000 blogs on their network.

PayPerPost also is gearing up to release the new version of their site, Argus.  Argus promises to bring better interaction for advertisers so they can get more information about the blogs they choose to advertise on.  Argus also will alienate bloggers who use popular free blogging services such as Blogger.  Bloggers who have their own domain will get a higher ranking.

However, posties have also been getting rattled over how you will choose assignments.  Currently, you can either receive assignments through a marketplace system or you have to have someone interested in your site through PPP direct.
